Welcome to Elephants!
In Year 3 we have started 2018 with a brand new topic all about Robots. We have a shiny Robot friend to welcome us to our reading corner, and our Robot art is brightening up our classroom. Some of our English work is based on 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes, a modern classic full of amazing imagery and vocabulary.
The science work for this term explores forces and magnets, and then electricity in the second half of the term. In these pictures you can see some of the Year 3 children testing the strength of different magnets.
The RE question for the first half term is 'Why is the Qur'an so important for Muslims?', and is followed after half term by a study of 'Why do Christians call the day Jesus died 'Good Friday'?
Maths topics will include, multiplication and division, lots of telling the time and time problems, shape and angles, and more weighing and measuring.
In PE lessons this term, Mr Singh is working with Year 3 on throwing and catching skills, including accurate throwing to hit a target. There is also a focus on teamwork skills, and Year 3 will be having lots of fun playing games of Dodgeball.
