The school had an inspirational visit from by Mark Smith (Derby Cycling) and Leigh Timmis (World Record Holder)today.
Mark Smith came to tell us all about the Big Pedal, which will be running between 25th March and 5th April. This is an initiative aimed at getting more children, parents and teachers to ditch their cars and walk, cycle, scoot, pogo etc. to school or work. He also brought along local Derby cyclist and World record holder, Leigh Timmis.
Leigh had all the children and staff captivated with stories from his 7 year cycle around the world and his record breaking 16 day ride across Europe (from the west coast of Portugal to the edge of Siberia) in September, beating the previous record of 24 days and making him the fastest person ever to complete accomplish this feat.
The children have also convinced him to submit his photos to Guiness World Records, to be included in the next edition of the book.
A big thank you to Isobel Shorrock, from the Quarndon Traffic and Transport Group, for organising and supporting the event.
