EYFS Class
Welcome to our Reception class, this is where our learning journey begins. In reception we follow the Early Years Foundation stage which is split into 7 areas. There are 3 prime areas which are Personal, Social and Emotional development, Communication and language and Physical Development. There are also 4 specific these are Mathematics, Literacy, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
With quality adult support and interactions, play is the best way for children to develop these skills and so we give it the time it deserves. The continuous provision allows children to follow their own interests and adults engage with the children and model and teach through playful interactions. We enjoy being outside.
During your child’s time in Reception the children they will learn about 6 key topics that will help build the foundations and underpin their future learning here at Curzon. Our Reception topics are All about me, Transport, Space, Growing and Changing, Kings and Queens and Stories from the past. Within these topic children will learning vital skills and knowledge that will support them as they go through the school. Children will complete focused learning tasks in small groups with an adult.
In Reception children begin their reading and writing journey and they begin to read and write. At Curzon we follow Little Wandle Phonics Scheme, and the children enjoy learning to read and practice their knowledge both in focused learning activities and through continuous provision.
In this classroom we have Miss Britland as our class teacher and Mrs Walker-Smith as our teaching assistant.
